He is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Communication at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and a permanent faculty member in UFMG’s Graduate Program in Social Communication. He holds a PhD in Social Communication from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2017), a master’s degree in Social Communication from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2013), and a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication, Public Relations track, from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2011). He was Scientific Director (2020-2022) and Vice President of the Brazilian Association of Researchers in Organizational Communication and Public Relations (ABRAPCORP). He was deputy coordinator of PPGCOM/UFMG (2022-2024). He won the 2018 CAPES Dissertation Award (Communication and Information), the 2018 UFMG Grand Dissertation Prize (Humanities, Applied Social Sciences, Linguistics, Letters, and Arts), and Abrapcorp awards in the dissertation (2018) and thesis (2014) categories. He is an associate researcher at the Research Group on Communication, Social Mobilization, and Public Opinion (Mobiliza - UFMG). He is the author of Astroturfing: logicas e dinamicas de publicos simulados (PPGCOM/UFMG imprint) and Publicos em Movimento (Autentica). He has experience in Communication, with emphasis on Public Relations and Advertising, discussing the conceptual dimensions of public relations, critical perspectives on public relations and the activity’s impacts on processes of meaning formation and power disputes, public formation and mobilization, and the logics and dynamics of social influence and public opinion.
