On 3 and 4 October, the National Institute of Science and Technology in Digital Democracy (INCT.DD) will hold its second Research Congress at Facom-UFBA. The aim is to strengthen interaction among members of the Institute’s research network through discussions of research by its associated laboratories. The event has a national scope and will bring about 50 Brazilian professors, researchers, and students in the fields of internet and politics to Salvador. This year, part of the program is open to the public.
The opening panel, “The Challenges of Research in Digital Democracy and Its Applications in Brazilian Public Institutions,” will be led by Cristiane Brum, a professor at the Chamber of Deputies’ Center for Education and Training (CEFOR); Fernando Filgueiras, a professor at the National School of Public Administration (ENAP); and Sivaldo Pereira, a professor at the University of Brasília (UnB). The discussion is open to Bahia’s scientific community and will be streamed live on the Institute’s social media channels.
New this year are two workshops to provide additional student training. Isabele Mitozo, a professor in UFBA’s Graduate Program in Communication (Póscom), will teach a workshop on writing in English and publishing in international journals. Doctoral student Eurico Matos (UFBA) will give an introductory workshop on collecting data from YouTube and Instagram. Both take place on 2 October. Another highlight is Govtalk, organized by INCT.DD partner startup Govthink and open to everyone. This initiative brings together representatives from the public, private, and academic sectors to discuss digital innovations in Brazilian governments. It takes place on 3 October at 18:30 at Hub Salvador, in the Comércio district. Its theme is “Connecting Actors in the Digital Government Ecosystem.” For more information about Govtalk, click here.
The rest of the program is restricted to researchers and students in the network. It includes discussions of members’ research, working meetings to strengthen partnerships, and other initiatives across the network’s fields to produce research and innovation.
