INCT.DD held its second Summer School from January 27 to 31, 2020. This second edition expanded its subject areas to cover Python and R for sentiment analysis and machine learning in the social sciences. Held at INCT.DD headquarters at Facom-UFBA in Salvador, the course welcomed 40 students from different levels—undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral—and from several Brazilian institutions. Classes covered techniques for working with large volumes of data, data mining, practical applications, and database management.
Activities took place in the mornings and afternoons, totaling 40 class hours, with particular attention to practical tests and exercises. Professors Gilberto Sassi (UFBA) and Crysttian Arantes (UFSC) led the training, with teaching assistance from the local team.
