Developed through its network, INCT.DD’s Introduction to Digital Democracy course has begun. It is offered through distance learning to master’s and doctoral students in 13 Brazilian graduate programs. The initiative is another step in the institute’s efforts to strengthen its research network, expand knowledge transfer, and train future researchers in digital democracy.
The course has 68 teaching hours. Students will learn from several professors during the semester, covering key areas of digital democracy such as transparency, open data, participation, public discussion, and activism.
Course description:
Digital democracy uses technological resources, technology-based projects, and even personal and social experiences with information and communication technologies to create more democracy and better democracies. The course presents the history of e-democracy, its main subtopics and related fields, and some of its central problems and prospects. Students will be introduced to the state of the art in the use of communication technologies and practices, particularly those related to the internet, for the benefit of democracy.
