The research report “Ciência Contaminada – Analisando o contágio de desinformação sobre coronavírus no Youtube” (Contaminated Science – Analyzing the spread of coronavirus disinformation on YouTube) was released today. It examines how false information about COVID-19 circulates on the video-sharing site YouTube. The study addresses issues such as the quality of information shared online, the movement of scientific content through religious networks, and the influence of non-scientific authorities during a pandemic.
The initiative is a partnership between the Center for the Analysis of Liberty and Authoritarianism (LAUT), INCT.DD, and the Center for Studies and Research in Health Law (Cepedisa). The authors are INCT.DD researchers João Guilherme Santos and Nina Santos, together with Caio Vieira Machado and Daniel A. Dourado.
