Professor Wilson Gomes will give the opening lecture at the Congress, which reaches its eighth edition in 2025. The lecture is open to the public.
The National Institute of Science and Technology in Digital Democracy (INCT.DD) will hold the VIII Brazilian Congress on Digital Democracy, Government, and Politics from 2 to 5 December at UFBA’s School of Communication (Facom/UFBA). INCT.DD coordinator Professor Wilson Gomes (Facom/UFBA) will give the opening lecture on Tuesday (2 December), starting at 5 p.m., on “INCT.DD and digital democracy: uncomfortable assessments and urgent tasks”.
Traditionally held in Salvador (BA), the INCT.DD Congress is one of the main forums for sharing research and keeping up with social phenomena that affect digital democracy and government in Brazil. This edition will discuss digital participation and activism, disinformation, artificial intelligence, digital campaigns, and the role of influencers in politics.
Around 60 researchers are expected at the VIII Congress, including professors, students, and members of research institutions from across the country. In addition to the public opening lecture, the event will include presentations of recent studies on urgent issues for digital democracy. Paper presentations are restricted to members of the INCT.DD network.
