Fiorenza Zandonade Carnielli

PhD in Communication and Information (UFRGS) and professor in the Department of Communication at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).

Researcher and adviser in that university’s Graduate Program in Contemporary Communication and Culture. He holds undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Philosophy (Universitas a Scte. Thomae, Rome) and a degree in Theology (Universitas Gregoriana, Rome). He completed his doctorate in 1988 with a thesis on the idea of the construction of reality in German Idealism, Phenomenology, and Hermeneutics. In 1998, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Cinema at the University of Sao Paulo. Since 1989, he has taught, researched, and advised in Communication, especially communication and politics and digital democracy. He is the author of “Transformacoes da politica na era da comunicacao de massa” (Sao Paulo: Paulus, 2004 and 2008), “Jornalismo, fatos e interesses” (Florianopolis: Insular, 2009), and co-author, with Rousiley Maia, of “Comunicacao & democracia: problemas e perspectivas” (Sao Paulo: Paulus, 2008).
