Samuel Barros

Professor in the Department of Political Science at the School of Philosophy and Human Sciences of the Federal University of Bahia.

He is a professor in the Department of Political Science (DCP) at the School of Philosophy and Human Sciences (FFCH) of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA). He is a permanent faculty member in the Graduate Program in Political Science (PPGCP) and in Contemporary Communication and Culture (PosCom). He holds a PhD in Communication from UFBA and completed a doctoral research period at the Center for Civic Media of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with a fellowship from the Sandwich Doctorate Program Abroad (PDSE-CAPES). He is editor of Revista Compolitica (ISSN: 2236-4781). His topics of interest include quantitative and qualitative digital methods for the study of political perceptions and behavior in digital environments; participation in online public consultations; deliberation and the online public sphere; and digital democracy for democratizing the relationship between state and society.
