CID studies the effects and consequences of digital communication media, resources, and platforms on politics, society, and the State from the standpoint of democracy's requirements.
The Communication, Internet, and Democracy research group brings together investigations on the relationships among digital communication, the internet, and democracy. The group examines how digital media, resources, and platforms reshape political practices, forms of participation, information circulation, and relationships among society, the State, and democratic institutions.
Its research is guided by the requirements of democracy, investigating how digital environments can expand or strain deliberation, inclusion, transparency, campaigns, mobilization, and public-opinion formation.
