Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).

She is a researcher and Assistant Professor I in PUC-Rio’s Graduate Program in Communication and teaches in the undergraduate Journalism program. Trained in journalism, she holds a PhD (2020) and a master’s degree (2013) in Contemporary Communication and Culture from UFBA. She is an associate researcher at the National Institute of Science and Technology in Digital Democracy and director of Digital Studies and Policies at Instituto Democracia em Xeque. She is a collaborating researcher at LabCom - Communication and Arts, University of Beira Interior, Portugal, where she completed postdoctoral work at MediaTrust.Lab - Regional Media Laboratory for Trust and Civic Literacy (2022-2025). She was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon (PDSE fellowship, 2017-2018). Her interests include political communication and media studies, with emphasis on propaganda, disinformation and fake news; political beliefs and misinformation; deepfakes, AI, and information automation; journalism and public trust; fact-checking and literacy; digital platforms, moderation and governance; freedom of expression, dangerous speech, and online harm.
