Sandra Bittencourt Genro

Professor and researcher in the Graduate Program in Communication at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Fabico/UFRGS).

Sandra Bitencourt Genro is a journalist. She holds a PhD in Communication and Information (UFRGS, Brazil) and a master’s degree in Communication and Education (UAB, Spain). She is Executive Director of Instituto Novos Paradigmas, adviser to the Public Communication Observatory at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), and invited researcher at the Center for Communication and Public Policy in UFRGS’s Graduate Program in Communication and Information. She coordinated the Digital Media and Democracy Council of Fundacao Getulio Vargas and the European Union from 2022 to 2024. She is currently communication adviser to the Treasury of the State of Rio Grande do Sul and Southern Regional Coordinator of the National Network to Combat Disinformation (RNCD).
